Sopore, Oct 27 (KNO): The much awaited Community Hall in Sopore town has remained a dream as the project has been abandoned after spending crores on its construction.
The project under special area programmes - special plan strategic schemes was meant for residents of congested wars especially Muslim Peer, Kralteng, Hathishah etc.
The structure is in complete shambles with broken windows and doors apparently making the building like a ghost house. It is now being used as a safe place for illegal activities, the residents alleged.
Packs of dogs are seen in the abandoned marriage hall with heaps of garbage there.
"For us this is not a suitable spot for the marriage hall as the locality sans drainage and sanitation facilities. Who would come to this place where an immense foul smell is emitting from the garbage which is being dumped here", a group of people told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).
The building was left midway after spending a crore. It has been almost seven years and the site is still left unattended by the authorities, he said.
Executive Engineer R&B division Sopore Himayun Raina told KNO that the project has an estimated cost of rupees 100.88 lakh but some of the amount is pending, thus leaving the project incomplete.
At present there is no funding agency who would fund to complete the said pending project. “Due to funding halt resulting from administrative complications, the project has remained incomplete,” officials added—(KNO)
